"I am inspired by linear city streets, red brick architecture of historical warehouses. I am intrigued with the mechanics of pedaling bicyclists throughout the city corridors..." - Jeanne Lydon
Jeanne's paintings have appeared in magazines and books such as Art Week, Real Simple, American Art Collector and Hearts in San Francisco, and her work has been exhibited from San Francisco to Beijing. She has studied at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco, and in 1999 she graduated from the California College of Arts and Crafts with a BFA in painting. She has since explored a variety of artists while interning at the Hanson Gallery and Babilonia 1808. Her technique involves layering color onto wood panel or cotton canvas, often using silkscreen to create patterns.
Jeanne is inspired by the elegance of historic architecture, antique bicycles and old-fashioned typewriters and her style ranges from realist to pure abstraction. She is intrigued by the mechanics of her surroundings and this curiosity is reflected in her work. Jeanne was born in San Carlos, California and she currently lives in Berkeley, California with her husband and son.
